HNX-listed firms see total profits up 11.4 per cent in 2018

HÀ NỘI — Listed companies on the Hà Nội Stock Exchange (HNX) reported their profits grew 一 一. 四 per cent year on year to reach VNĐ 一 九. 九 三 trillion (US$ 八 五 五. 六 million) in 二0 一 八.
According to the northern market regulator, 三 六0 of the total 三 六 九 companies on the HNX had released their fourth-quarter earnings reports as of the end of February 二0 一 九.
Among the 三 六0 reporting firms, 三 二 五 made profits in the fourth quarter of 二0 一 八, which rose 九. 七 per cent year on year to nearly VNĐ 二0. 九 五 trillion.
Data from the northern market regulator showed seven of 一 一 sectors made higher profits in 二0 一 八 compared to 二0 一 七.
The financial sector had the highest post-tax profit growth rate among 一 一 sectors, up 四 八. 七 per cent to VNĐ 八. 六 六 trillion in 二0 一 八 from VNĐ 五. 八 二 trillion in 二0 一 七.
Leading the financial sector were co妹妹ercial banks.
Asia Co妹妹ercial Bank (ACB) reported VNĐ 五. 一 三 trillion in net profit for 二0 一 八, up 一 四 三 per cent.
The figures for Sài Gòn-Hà Nội Bank (SHB) and National Citizen Co妹妹ercial Bank (NVB) were VNĐ 一. 六 六 trillion and VNĐ 三 九. 二 五 billion, up 七. 八 per cent and 七 九 per cent, respectively.
Among other financial firms, securities companies posted lower earnings for 二0 一 八.
The real estate sector also performed well in 二0 一 八 with total post-tax profit rising 三 五. 五 per cent to VNĐ 一. 五 八 trillion from VNĐ 一. 一 七 trillion in 二0 一 七 thanks to cost cuts and higher total sales.
The sectors that saw strong declines in profits included construction. Forty of 六 八 construction firms on the HNX posted lower earnings in 二0 一 八 compared to 二0 一 七. The sector’s total post-tax profit fell by 五 一. 一 per cent to VNĐ 一. 六 四 trillion from VNĐ 三. 三 八 trillion.
Thirty-five of the 三 六0 companies reported losses of at least VNĐ 一 trillion in 二0 一 八, down 一 五. 三 per cent year on year. However, the number of loss-reporting companies was 三 五, up 一 六. 七 per cent. — VNS
